Four of ten Grass Carp caught in June 2016 in Lake Gibson – an isolated water body near St. Catharines, Ontario. Nine of the ten fish were incapable of breeding – they had been genetically modified to be sterile – and the tenth was a male with no viable opportunity to spawn. The fish were isolated within Lake Gibson because of a lack of open water connections to other water bodies.
